Truth About Hell

One second after you die is too late.

Heaven is not our default destination. There needs to be a purposeful act on our part to be saved.

You have got to be certain about this. Don’t take a chance with your soul. If you are not certain, you can be certain.

God has given us a clear warning; there really is a hell and it’s far worse than you can imagine. Jesus talked about it in 46 different verses because that is what He saved us from. So, you are going to hear about how horrible it is but you will see that it is your own words that send you there. It is not God sending anyone there – He is trying to keep people out. Hell is far worse than you can imagine. The good news is that nobody has to go there. It is your decision. God loves us and He gives us a free will to choose.

On November 23, 1998 Bill had an out-of-body experience which falls under the classification of a ‘vision’ (2 Corinthians 12:1-2). It was not a dream or a near death experience. The Lord chose to take him to hell in his spirit body. He had been a Christian for 28 years with a love for God’s Word but had never studied the topic of hell. In 2005 he was approached by Charisma House to write a book about his experience. To date, the book has been published in 14 languages and lead to the founding of Soul Choice Ministries with his wife, Annette Weise.

To preface this, I want to say that I don’t serve God because I’m afraid of hell; I serve Him because He is the most wonderful Person you can ever meet. You might say, ‘I am a Christian, why do I need to hear about hell?’

When you understand how severe hell is:

1. You will be much more appreciative of your own salvation, of what you were saved from (Matthew 23:33).

2. It will cause you to walk in the fear of the Lord; you won’t want to live compromised and play around with sin (Mark 9:47, Proverbs 16:6)

3. It it gives us a passion for the lost, desire to witness and you will pray more fervently (2 Corinthians 5:10-11).

VISION OF HELL

“At 3 am, I got up to get a glass of water and as I was walking to the kitchen, something grabbed me and pulled me out of my body. I found myself falling through the air down this long tunnel. It was getting hotter and hotter. I landed in a stone prison floor in hell (Proverbs 7:27). I was fully awake and congniscent. It was a filthy, stinking, smoke filled dungeon, (Isaiah 24:22).

The first thing I noticed was the intense heat. I wondered how I could be alive in this place. My first reaction was to try to run but it took so much energy to try to move. I had no physical strength in my body, (Isaiah 14:9-10).

I looked up in this cell and saw these two enormous beasts. These creatures were about 12 foot tall, reptilic in appearance with bumps and scales over their body, a huge jaw, sunken in eyes and claws over a foot long. One picked him up and threw him against the wall and I felt as if all my bones had broken. A spirit doesn’t have bones but it felt that way. The other grabbed him and tore the flesh open with their claws. I wondered how I could still be alive though these but you do have a body in hell and it withstands these torments, (Luke 16:23-24).

At this time, it went dark. I believe the Lord withdrew His presence there, so I could describe to people what I could see and what I couldn’t. It wasn’t just dark, you could actually feel it (Jude 13). It is so wicked and evil, the darkness seems to try to penetrate through every cell in your body, and every cell is in constant agony.

I was taken out of this prison cell and placed next to this raging pit of fire. It was about a mile across. The flames raged high into an open cavern (Psalms 11:6, Matthew 13:49). This was where I could first see people through the flames and it is the most awful sight to see a person on fire. The screams coming from the people were so loud and deafening. I wanted to get away from the screams but I couldn’t (Isaiah 57:21).

I understood there were different levels of torment and degrees of punishment, (Matthew 23:14, Matthew 10:15) There is no tolerable level of punishment in hell. Any level of hell is worse than your mind can conceive. You understand you will not get out (Job 7:9). You are isolated, no purpose, no destiny (Ecclesiastes 9:10). You are forgotten in hell, (Isaiah 26:14). Death does not mean you cease to exist; you are just changed.

I just wanted to say goodbye to my wife but I understood I would never get that opportunity. The thought that you will never have finality with your family is extremely tormenting. I wanted to talk to a person, anybody but the people I saw in the pit were kept at such a distance, you could only hear their screams.

The stench in hell is the most putrid, disgusting odour you can imagine: Decay, demons, people burning and burning sulphur. To make it worse, you couldn’t take a deep breath, it was a feeling of suffocation and that was going on for all eternity.

The level of fear you have in hell – Where they are utterly consumed with terror for all eternity (Psalm 73:18-19). (Deuteronomy 32:22).

As I was looking at all this horror, something began lifting me up again through the tunnel, I was ascending until suddenly this bright light appeared. I knew immediately who it was. There is no question when Jesus shows up, of Whom He is. I didn’t see His face but the outline of a man standing in a bright holy light, the like of which I have never seen. I said Jesus and He said I am. When He said that, I collapsed (Revelation 1:16). He touched me and I was at His feet. I was so grateful for the cross. I just wanted to thank Him. I had no questions at that moment. Then thoughts started coming in my mind and He would answer my thoughts (Psalm 139:2). He said many people do not believe that hell is real, even some of My own people. I want you to point them to the scriptures. It is the job of the Holy Spirit to convert their hearts.

Some argue, ‘I’m a good person, how can God send a good person to hell?’ First of all, God doesn’t send anybody to hell; it’s your decision. However, good doesn’t work because you have to compare yourself to God’s standard of good (James 2:10, Proverbs 24:9). Say you went to find the most expensive home in the country, knocked on their door and said, “Excuse me but I am moving in with you because I am a good person”. What do you think the people would say? No. You don’t know them. You wouldn’t expect them to let you move into their house. In the same way, good has nothing to do with it. You don’t know Him as your Lord and Saviour.”

“In Matthew 25:41, we learn hell was prepared for the devil and his angels. God never intended for man to go there. The same word of preparation is used in John 14:2 when Jesus says He goes to prepare a place for us in Heaven. However, Heaven is not our default destination because we were all born in sin (Psalm 51:5). It’s not like God is arbitrarily choosing who is and isn’t going to Heaven. We are all going to hell unless we accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour and trust in Him to get us off that road. God doesn’t want to say those words – ‘depart from Me,’ (Matthew 25:41).

Don’t wait till you are good enough. You just come as you are, God will clean you up. You don’t know that you will have tomorrow. If you want to be saved, these words will change your whole eternity if you mean them from the heart:

PRAYER FOR SALVATION:

Dear God in Heaven, I know that I have sinned and I cannot save myself. I believe You sent Your Son, Jesus to die on the cross for me, that He was crucified, died and was buried but rose again and lives forevermore. I ask You to forgive me of my sins, come into my heart, I receive You as my Lord and Saviour. You are the Son of God, You shed Your blood on the cross for me. I ask You fill me with Your Holy Spirit, empower me with the Holy Spirit. I want to serve You all the days of my life and I now confess I am a born-again Christian, going to Heaven, in Jesus’ name. Amen. Praise the Lord!”
