Life is an unending kaleidoscope that moves at increasing speeds. As we grow in our lives new responsibilities pile on that can cause us to feel heavy and anxious.
Merriam Webster’s dictionary defines stress as; a force exerted when one body or body part presses on, pulls on, pushes against, or tends to compress or twist another body or body part.

Stress is a force that pushes us away from Jesus, twists out mindset and compresses our time with Jesus.
Our mind becomes a mess when we are in stress which can cause us to think we are too busy to spend time with our creator. It might seem like work, school and getting that promotion is on your shoulders, as if you have all control on whether you are going to be successful, but God already has those plans for you. He holds your future in his hands, and he is also the remedy to the mess inside your mind.
Throughout this blog, I will explain some ways that helped me cope with stress and still stay close to Jesus. I hope this blesses you and breaks the chains of stress over your life.
1. Morning Prayer
I know that hearing the word morning can send some people into shock but as Pastor Vlad said it is beautiful to speak to Jesus before you speak to anyone else.
Having a busy schedule can get in the way of scheduled time with Jesus. Going to bed an hour early and waking up an hour before your alarm clock to spend time with Jesus will not only ease your minds stress about the responsibilities for the day but will also make you feel accomplished. I believe that morning prayer is the key to a busy life because it is a way for you to full heartedly spend time with Jesus and not be stressed while doing it.
“In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.”
Psalm 5:3
2. Listening to Podcast/Books While Driving
Books and Podcast are essential to learning how to deal with stress and also so important to building character in Christ.
There are special podcast for time management that can help you rearrange your life. HungryGen has some amazing podcast that are encouraging and helpful for those days that you are feeling drained. You are not only learning while listening to these podcasts, but you are also fitting Jesus in your day which can brighten your mood. Sometimes listening to the radio can be upsetting and stressful due to everything that’s going on in the world but when you listen to Gods word and Gods teachings you can never go wrong. Here are some of my favorite podcasts for the days my stress levels are through the roof.
- Time, Together Church with Micahn Carter
- Passion and Discipline, HungryGen Podcast by Liliya Savchuk
- Seeds and Seasons, HungryGen Podcast by Brittany Hartikainen
- Christian on a Monday, HungryGen Podcast by Solomiya Parkhotyuk
- How to Make Room for the Holy Spirit, HungryGen Podcast by Pastor Vlad
There are so many more but these are my favorites and I highly encourage you to take time and listen!
3. Worship Sessions
For me, worship sessions are very essential when it comes to dealing with stress. If you are busy during your day, you most likely have heaviness and stress from school or work or whatever you are dealing with. Taking 30 min before bed and soaking in Gods goodness will not only make your sleep more peaceful but it will also release your stress and your tension.
“I give you peace, the kind of peace only I can give.”
John 14:27
When you seek God and lay it all before Him in worship you will receive peace. Worshiping at the start of your day and at the end is a perfect way to recharge and spend time with Jesus.
God is here to overwhelm what’s overwhelming you. When stress comes around remember that our God is greater. I hope these little things make a big change in the way you deal with stress. Remember that God doesn’t place you in a season you can’t handle.
Prayer:
God, I come before you with thanksgiving and praise. I thank you that you have placed me in this season of discipline and work. I pray that I find peace In you when my stress levels are high and that I am able to make time for you during my busy day. I love you and I worship you in Jesus mighty name, AMEN.
