More Than Measure

Then He said to them, “Take heed what you hear. With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given. Mark 4:24

There is a measure we get from the Lord. But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. (Ephesians 4:7) But Jesus tells us that we can get more than our measure. To you who hear, more will be given. The measure can lead to more.

The measure of grace can increase.
The measure of faith can increase.
The measure of anointing can increase.
The measure of power can increase.
The measure of fruitfulness can increase.
The measure of effectiveness can increase.

More will be given is the promise. Take heed what you hear is the condition.  Share on X

You would think that if you increase your prayer then more will be given. Perhaps if you increase your giving more will be given. Or maybe fasting then more will be given. But Christ said, to you who hear, more will be given.

1. Take heed to what you hear. Pay attention to where your attention is going right now. Take inventory of your watching, listening, reading. Where is it going? What about social media consumption? Are you being entertained or enlightened? Are you numbing yourself with media or nurturing yourself? Jesus said, take heed to what you hear. The first key is not to change anything but to evaluate your attention.

We don’t have the same gifts, talents, and calling but we all have the same amount of time. “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom” Psalm 90:12. Time is more valuable than money. You can always get more money but you can’t get more time. Time is what we want the most but it’s what we use the worst.

While we might not decide what measure was given to us we do determine what we do with our attention. Share on X Start with heeding your hearing before you start changing your hearing. Share on X

2. Choose what you hear based on where you want to be. Jesus promises more to be given to those who choose to hear the right things. If you want to be in place of fruitfulness in ministry, choose to read, watch, and listen to ministers who are effective in that area. If you want to succeed in finances, read books on money management, investment, and giving.

Choose your hearing.
Choose your reading.
Choose your watching.
Choose your online courses.
Choose your conferences and seminars.

Decide to hear what will yield more fruit to you!

My prayer is that you don’t just dream of walking in more but decide to obey the principle that promises more.

Take heed to what you hear and hear what is in line with your future goals and dreams.  Share on X
