“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7
When life gets quiet, it doesn’t generally mean that there is peace in our hearts. Having peace in our hearts equally does not always mean there is quiet. Peace is the soldier God assigns to guard the gate of your heart.
1. God gives peace in storms of problems but also for the storm of purpose.
“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27
Your sea doesn’t have to be calm for you to have peace.
Peace isn’t the absence of problems; it’s the presence of Jesus. As long as the Prince of Peace is with you, you can live in peace even in the middle of chaos.
Don’t just seek happiness, which changes with circumstances. Pursue peace, which remains because it comes from Him.

Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies all around. His name shall be Solomon, for I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days. 1 Chronicles 22:9
David also commanded all the leaders of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying, “Is not the LORD your God with you? And has He not given you rest on every side? For He has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand, and the land is subdued before the LORD and before His people. Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God. Therefore arise and build the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD and the holy articles of God into the house that is to be built for the name of the LORD.” 1 Chronicles 22:17-19
Peace without purpose leads to passivity. However, peace with purpose leads to productivity.

“that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you,” 1 Thessalonians 4:11
Some of us are drawn to a battle that God didn’t sanction or start. When you are in those types of battles, there is no quietness. When there is no quietness, there is no peace and you can’t build certain things without peace.
3. Peace is not permission to relax; it’s a call to pursue God.
Solomon didn’t earn that peace; it was inherited. But the response was clear: “Set your heart to seek the Lord and build.”
Relaxation numbs, but rest restores. Having a day off is not resting. Not working is not rest. Rest should leave you fully recharged. Rest is to reconnect and recharge—but not to relax into passivity. The problem is not that you need a vacation but that you need a new weekly rhythm of life.
If God has given you peace, don’t get into a hammock, put on a hard hat, seek God’s face and build what He called you to build.
David fought for peace; Solomon built in peace. You had faith to battle; now step into favor to build.
Peace is not just God’s reward for your past—it’s His platform for your purpose.
Don’t just seek happiness, which changes with circumstances. Pursue peace, which remains because it comes from Him. Share on XWatch The Full Sermon Here:
