Proof That Jesus Changes Lives

This week at Hungry Generation, Pastor Roberto Stevenson preached a life-changing sermon based on Matthew 16:13. The message focused on the transforming power of Jesus Christ and the authority of the church to bring hope and freedom to the world.

The key question of the sermon was: Who do you say Jesus is?
Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God,” and this became the foundation of the church. Pastor Stevenson explained that understanding Jesus shapes a person’s life, their family, and even their legacy.

Powerful Testimony of Transformation

  • Pastor Stevenson shared his journey from addiction and prison to encountering Jesus and being set free. He said, “Jesus who came to seek and save that which was lost, He set me free even behind the walls of prison.”
  • While in prison, he was discipled by fellow believers for 11 months. They taught him scripture, prayer, and the true meaning of the church as a loving, unified family without discrimination.
  • A prophetic word in prison revealed God’s plan for him to preach the gospel in multiple nations and serve in ministry, showing that God can use anyone regardless of their past.

The Church and Its Authority

“I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.” Matthew 16:18

  • The church belongs to Jesus Christ, and the gates of hell cannot prevail against it.
  • The mission of the church is to reach those trapped in darkness, addiction, depression, and hopelessness. Pastor Stevenson explained, “It is the doors of hell where people are held captive that the church is called to open with the power of the gospel.”
  • Revival and church planting are powerful ways God transforms communities. Pastor Stevenson shared stories from his ministry in Mexico, where thousands were baptized and lives were changed through persistent outreach.

Important Lessons

  • The church’s power comes from God, not politicians or worldly influence.
  • Believers are called to understand who Jesus is and live faithfully.
  • The church is unstoppable when it follows Christ and actively participates in God’s mission.

This sermon reminds every believer that the church is not just a building or an organization. It is a living body of Christ with the power to change lives. Darkness cannot win where God’s people are faithfully living and serving.
