Christ the Conqueror

Only a risen savior can save a dying world.

1 Corinthians 15:17

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is crucial because the four main religions of the world are based on personalities rather than philosophies.

  • In 1900 B.C. Judaism’s Father, Abraham died.
  • In 483 B.C. Buddhist writings say Buddha died “with that utter passing away in which nothing whatever remains behind.”
  • June 6, 632 A.D. Mohammed died.
  • In 33 A.D., Jesus died but came back to life, appearing to 500 people over 40 days.

Scholars tell us that there is more evidence that Jesus Christ came out of that grave than that Julius Caesar ever lived.

Those who reject the resurrection of Christ, do so not because of the evidence but because the evidence exits, it confronts them and they become responsible to react to it and change their lives.

“The resurrection of Christ is the most verifiable fact of ancient history.”

I want to share three reasons why the resurrection of Jesus Christ is a very big deal.

    Our Past Can Be Forgiven

    • We deserve to die as the penalty for sin.
    • We deserve to bear God’s wrath against sin.
    • We are separated from God by our sins.
    • We are in bondage to sin and to the kingdom of Satan.
    • What we are is a lot worse than anything we have ever done.

However, through Jesus’ blood, I have been forgiven of my sins. (Matthew 26:28; 1 John 1:7), I have been freed from my sin (Romans 6:6), I have been freed from the law, (Romans 6:14).

Jesus’ resurrection moved us from sin to sonship,(John 20:17)

When He died, so did my sin. When He rose, so did my hope. Share on X

    Our Future Can Be Secure

The three stages of life are embryo, earth, and eternity.

Death is a door, not a dead end. (1 Corinthians 15:20).

Death is a shadow, not a sting because Christ defeated it (1 Corinthians 15:56).

Jesus Christ defeated death by His resurrection and because of His resurrection, we have hope. Hope is an anchor for the soul, (Hebrews 6:19).

An anchor secures a vessel to the bed of a body of water to prevent the craft from drifting due to wind or current. Anchors are symbols of hope. Christ gives us hope as an anchor that when life gets shaky, expectations are not met, somebody dies and life wants to throw you around – we have an anchor that holds us steady.

Life has storms, vicissitudes and shifts. What keeps us anchored is not our good health, retirement fund or education. The Bible says our anchor is not on the sea floor but in the holy of holies in Heaven. We are connected to the future and our future is bright because our anchor is Jesus Christ.

Hopelessness marks our generation today. One of the highest causes of death among the youth today is suicide. This happens when you don’t have hope. Without hope, you only have negative expectations.

When we forget where we are going, we get discouraged by what we are going through. I don’t believe in Jesus Christ only so that when I die, I will get to Heaven but also for when life gets shaky, the anchor of Christ holds me steady. It is not that I hold onto God but God holds onto me. I am not strong; He is the strength of my life.

Our Present Can Be Made New

The third thing about the resurrection of Jesus is not only that it guarantees our past has been taken care of and our future is secure but it gives us faith for today.

Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.”

    John 20:19

Jesus gives peace today. You can have peace for today because I have the Prince of Peace with me wherever I go. Therefore, even if there is potential anxiety, fear, or defeat, I can have peace in that situation.

Jesus wants to speak peace into your life today. Maybe you are a Christian and you know your sins are forgiven and have hope for the future but right now, your mind is in turmoil. The Prince of Peace wants to come into your mind and tell your thoughts, “Peace, be still”.

From John 20 to John 21, Jesus shows Himself to His disciples three times. To the discouraged, He showed the scriptures; to the doubters, He showed the scars; to the defeated, He showed the supernatural.Till this day, Jesus still shows His power to His disciples. He gives peace to troubled minds and purpose to His followers.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty. I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.

    Revelation 1:18

In Christ Jesus, we have peace, purpose, and power!
