Discipleship Internship Week 1

Here are what some of our Spring discipleship 2021 interns have to say about why they chose to postpone their plans for three months and trust in what God has called them to do.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” -Isaiah 55: 8-9

What did you learn this week: You can actually just go into prayer without talking and just sit in the presence of God. The fact that God LOVES my presence just really blew me away.

Advice for people interested in HG internship: I was worried about dropping everything and losing my job but God opened doors and I had this immense desire to deepen my relationship with God and really wanting to be transformed.

Favorite part of internship: The people you meet here are so loving, encouraging and speak life into you. They also push you to pursue God in a deeper way and the way they live really shows their love for God and they are bold! I love it!

Favorite bible verse: Isaiah 53:3-12

What are your plans after the internship: Bring the fire of God in my family, my work, my friends, and spread the gospel with everyone and SHARE everything I have learned!☺

What did you learn this week: We learned about a relationship with God and what to do during a dry season. In Psalm 23 David says, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, For I know you are with me, not that I feel you are with me, For I Know that you’re with me. So that was really important and it made me reflect about how last week we had a worship night and although I did not necessarily feel His presence I know he was still there and being able to still receive that teaching was life changing because I have previously struggled with not feeling God’s presence. But knowing that God was there, is there, and is going to be there always has allowed me to be able to see and feel his presence.

Advice for people interested in HG internship: Just come, if you want to get deep with God you will get deep with God, If you want to get shallow with God you will get shallow with God. You’ll get whatever you will put into it and whatever you want to get out of it. One thing I love here is that there is opportunity to just go deep and really be close and intimate with God. The most important thing for all Christians is to just learn about the relationship and intimacy with God. And when you do come just dig deep in the relationship and make that your number one absolute priority.

Favorite part of Internship: Worship nights have been my absolute favorite because you just seek God, seeking his presence, and just getting deeper with him, and really knowing his love, his identity, who he is and who we are in him. So worship has just been a way to get deeper with the lord.

Favorite bible verse: Ephesians 4:30 / Psalm 103: 11-12 (NKJV)

Out of the vast majority of bible college programs there is, why Hungry Gen: I chose Hungry Gen because it is a program God lead me to and where it just worked out in the best way possible and I feel it was God’s best plan for me. Also I was looking for a Bible college that had hands-on experience where I could not just learn theological scripture but to also learn how to apply it in everyday life. How to pray for healing, do deliverance on someone and to actually cast out demons, and to prophecy and evangelize to others.

What do you want to get out of this internship: I want a deeper relationship with God. He has called me to go into a deeper relationship with Him and I know that as I do so everything else will come as a benefit: deliverance, healing, the sanctification process, being able to minister to others, and overall having a whole life transformation and that’s apart of having a deeper relationship with God.

What does life after internship look like for you: Things are up in the air currently, I am from Canada and there are a lot of travel restrictions and I don’t know what it will look like in terms of when I can go back. I desire to travel across the U.S. and when I get home I would like to do a lot of Ministry in my home city and in our ministry program. Perhaps work full-time until I begin school in September. Who knows maybe I will end up staying at Hungrygen for some extra time and spend more time with the church and get more involved here. My plans aren’t definitely and I have been praying on it because my life plans after internship may change.

Knowing what you know now about internship, if you could go back would you still chose to come, Why or why not: One hundred percent I would still chose to come, I would only change the fact that I didn’t go into a deeper relationship with God before I came.

If you could ask God one question, what would it be: For those people who are seeking the lord, they’re praying, fasting, worshipping, seeking deliverance, they’re reading the word, why aren’t those people receiving their freedom and breakthrough? Also I would like more clarity from the lord on, why God didn’t make things more clearer and obvious in the Bible? There are people who fast and pray to know in depth what the Bible says, however they never really get that clarity.
