The Temple Of The Holy Spirit
Prophet Ezekiel had a vision concerning the future and the temple of God. He saw a river of water flowing from the temple into the lowest point on earth, which is the Dead Sea. I want to use this symbolism to share three points addressing the temple of the Holy Spirit that exists today: every born-again believer.
Then he brought me back to the door of the temple; and there was water, flowing from under the threshold of the temple toward the east, for the front of the temple faced east; the water was flowing from under the right side of the temple, south of the altar.
Ezekiel 47:1
1. We Are The Temple, Not A Tomb
The Bible calls Christians the temple of the Holy Spirit, not the tombs of religion, tradition, and past experiences (1 Corinthians 6:19). If you can remember times when you loved God more than you do today, you have become a tomb of religion, (Matthew 23:27).
A tomb holds something that used to be alive; a temple hosts Someone who is alive – God! A tomb of religion has bigger memories than dreams, bigger hurt than hope and bigger fear than faith. They live by what God did instead of what God is doing now.
Water only flows from temples, not tombs.
Your Best Days In God Are Ahead Of You
“But He answered and said, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”
Matthew 4:4
God is still speaking today. If Abraham had lived on yesterday’s Word, he would have killed Isaac.
Yesterday’s fire is today’s ashes.
Yesterday’s manna is today’s maggots (Exodus 16:20).
You cannot live on yesterday’s provision, manna, or experiences.
We have to maintain a current, fresh, relationship with God and what He is saying now. Your best years with God are supposed to be now.
Don’t have bigger memories than dreams. Don’t let your fear be bigger than your faith. Don't let your hurt be bigger than your hope. Share on X2. The Holy Spirit Is A River, Not A Reservoir
In John 7:37-38, Jesus Christ described the Holy Spirit as Rivers of Living Water. When we don’t let a river flow, it becomes a reservoir. Here are some differences between a river and a reservoir.
- A river has a flow. Reservoir is a storage (Ezekiel 47:8).
- Rivers promote life. Reservoirs squash life (Ezekiel 47:8-9).
- A river has banks (Ezekiel 47:7).
- A river enters the sea (Ezekiel 47:7).
Revival in the church must lead to the reformation in the society (2 Chronicles 7:14). This is where the river goes; it must flow from us into society. We must follow the direction of the river of living water which is to the lowest point on earth – the Dead Sea – the lost.
The real revival is not when we get everybody to church but when we get the whole church to everybody! The Biblical mandate is to change our world by being transformed by God. You can bring reformation to society when you live in revival in your heart.
Don’t be a tomb of only what God did, be a temple of what God is doing. Share on X3. The River Grows Fuller As It Goes Further
River of living water grow deeper as we go toward the lost. This is how we see the growth of the anointing, miracles, and revival in our churches. The key to grow in the anointing of the Holy Spirit is not your speed but direction. The river did not increase at the temple. It got wider and deeper gradually as it flowed from the temple, in the direction of the lowest point on earth. If you stay in God’s direction, you will always be in His power!
Revival in the church must lead to reformation in the society. Share on XWatch The Full Sermon Here:
