“And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts” – 2 Peter 1:19
God’s Way Requires Faith
” In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” – Genesis 1:1-2
If you want God to create in your life, you need to put God first. When you put God first in your day, the rest of the day will flow with His grace. If you put God first in your week by coming to church, the rest of the week will flow with His grace. When you put God first in your finances by giving Him the first 10%, you invite Him to bless the remaining 90%.
Day 0 – When everything is dark, the Holy Spirit is near!
Day 0 in our lives is when we do not know God there is a void in our life. This void is the darkness and lack of purpose in our lives. The Bible states while there was darkness and a void, there was a Spirit hovering around.
The Holy Spirit is always working even in your darkness. Share on XNo matter how lost or void your life is, the Spirit hovers near you. God loves you so much; He will not leave you, no matter how dark it gets.
Day 1- Light without a source (The Promise without evidence)
“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.” – Genesis 1:3-5
On Day 1, God did not create physical objects. On Day 1, God created light without the sun. The sun was created on Day 4.
When you encounter God's presence, He brings His light into your life. Share on XThere might not be much physical change in your life at first. But inside of you, light and illumination occurs. The light did not come from the sun, it came from God’s words, “Let there be light.” God first brings light, then the sun. This is contrary to the way we would operate. God stated Abraham was a father before he had children. Joshua was a victor before he fought the battle in Jericho.
In our world, we are righteous after we do righteous things, but in God’s world, He gives you righteousness, so that you can do right things.
Gods’ world is different than ours; He gives you light before the sun; He gives you a promise then the evidence; He gives you His Word, then He does His work.
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” – Hebrews 11:1
The word “substance” in the original language is hypostasis. Hypostasis means a foundation, assurance, confidence-something solid and real beneath something hoped for. A title deed, guarantee or essence- a legal claim to what belongs to you, even if it’s not yet seen. Faith makes the invisible tangible before it becomes visible. God’s Word brings light into your life – a title deed to a promise and a change in your spirit even if you don’t have a physical change in circumstance.
At first, God’s promise contradicts reality, but then God’s Spirit changes it.
Don’t lower your promise to the level of your problem. That gap is room for God’s power! Even though I may be poor in my finances, I trust in the Lord as my provider. God will fill the gap.
Day 2-Separation (The process of Purging)
“And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.” – Genesis 1:6-8
God separated the waters from the waters. There are times in life when separation needs to occur. Separate yourself from things of this world. Many times people become on fire for God then separation occurs from certain people in your life. God removes people to protect you. He removes people to propel you not your purpose. God removes people who no longer align with your journey. God removes people because He is planning to bring someone else. The transition into a new season.
Day 3 – Formation (God is developing you in the dark)
“Then God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters He called Seas. And God saw that it was good. Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. So the evening and the morning were the third day.” – Genesis 1:9-13
Once separated, God starts forming and developing you. Roots grow before fruit appear. God doesn’t just want you to have the promise, He wants you to have the character to sustain it. Before you reign, you must be refined. The pruning and pressing you experience today will produce the fruit of your tomorrow. The desire of the young is to be discovered, whereas our greatest need is to be developed. In day 3, you have the promise, you have been separated and now hell breaks loose. When this occurs ask, ‘God, what are you developing within me, Lord?’
Day 4 – Fullfillment (The Word comes to pass!)
“Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. So the evening and the morning were the fourth day.” – Genesis 1:14-19
Now, what was light in the Spirit on Day 1 becomes structured on Day 4. Sun, moon, stars are now visible signs of what God had already spoken. The Word is finally manifesting-your season of visibility is here!
God is not just fulfilling His Word, He is establishing you in a place of authority, influence, and purpose.
“Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” – Philippians 1:6
The God who finishes what He starts
Josephs life in the Bible is marked at times when different people in his life messed his clothing.
Joseph’s Day 1: Promise received: Joesph got the coat of many colors and dreams from God (Genesis 37:3-9) Joseph’s Day One or season One was marked when his father gave him a beautiful garment. During this season, God speaks to Joseph in a dream and explains to him what he is going to be. God gave him a promise.
Joseph’s Day 2: His coat was taken by his brothers (Genesis 37:23) He was thrown into a pit and sold into slavery. He was separated from his father, his home, and his comfort. Joseph was no longer a beloved son, but a slave. Joseph’s separation was painful. But during this painful time, Joseph was closer to his destiny in the Lord than while he was comfortable at home.
Joseph’s Day 3: His coat was removed again (Potiphar’s wife took it – Genesis 39:12)
Joseph served in Potiphar’s house and was falsely accused. In prison, his gift of leadership and interpretation of dreams were developed (Genesis 40). Formation occurred during this step. God is still working on you regardless of your difficult situation.
Joseph Day 4: From prison to the palace- his prophetic dream came to pass! (Genesis 41:39-44) Joseph received the king’s clothing. What was spoken in obscurity was now visible to all! God will bring a Day 4 in your life.
Our God is a God that truly finishes what He starts. At times, we may feel forgotten or abandoned. Always remember God is faithful. In those times of separation and formation we get closer to our destiny in the Lord.
