Time to Pray

Our Commander, Jesus Christ, is mobilizing His body to pray. Jesus is mobilizing His church to pray because He wants to do something on this earth.

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

2 Chronicles 7:14

“I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before Me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.”

Ezekiel 22:30

God’s Desire

God’s desire is to heal and not destroy. God is looking to do it through somebody. That is, God is looking to move, heal, and restore, through His people on the earth if they will humble themselves and pray.

Throughout the Scriptures, God refers to His people as a generation of royal priests (1 Peter 2:9). A priest is one who is duly authorized to minister in sacred things, in particular to offer sacrifices at the altar, who acts as a mediator between men and God. There are lots of example of priests and priesthood in the Old Testament but what does this look like in the 21st century?

In Jesus, we do not need to build an altar of stone or sacrifice animals but I do believe that God is looking for each of us to become prayer warriors – praying people. A praying person is one who comes before the Lord on behalf of himself or others. 21st century priests are people that send the spiritual substance of prayers up the heavens, on behalf of themselves and others.

“First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be offered for everyone.”

1 Timothy 2:1

God wants to do something on this earth but He needs substance. God is the biggest gentleman; He doesn’t intervene without permission. He has given the earth to man and requires your invitation to move in our lives. This is why we must pray. That is why the scripture says If. When you pray, you are inviting God into your world.

Prayer Is Like Water

Prayer is like water in that as it goes up to God, it gathers like water vapor and forms clouds. Then, when there is enough substance, the clouds release rain. So the question is: Are you sending enough prayer substance up for God to rain down upon you, your family, your children, your job, and your nation?

“Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all God’s people, on the golden altar in front of the throne. The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of God’s people, went up before God from the angel’s hand. Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it on the earth; and there came peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake.”

Revelation 8:3-5

When we send substance into Heaven through our prayers, things start to happen: our children start to get saved, and broken bodies start to get healed. Is your bowl of prayer full or empty?

Jesus said, “My house will be called a house of prayer, not a house of entertainment.” In the Old Testament, God’s presence dwelt in a building but in the New Testament, God dwells in our hearts through His Spirit. We are the temple of the Holy Spirit, as Christians, and our houses are meant to be houses of prayer for the Holy Spirit. There has to be fire on our altar. Instead of this, we fill ourselves up with entertainment and distract ourselves with the pleasures and cares of this world. Then, we wonder why we don’t walk in the fire of God. ‘Why is God not moving in my life? Why are my children going into the world?’ Fill your jar with prayer.

Examples Of Praying People

Let’s look at some examples of people who filled their heavenly jar with prayer and what that looks like. First, let’s look at Job.

“You have always put a wall of protection around him and his home and his property. You have made him prosper in everything he does. Look how rich he is!”

Job 1:10 NLT

Job prayed daily for himself, his wife, and his children and the Lord not only blessed him abundantly, He also protected Job and everything he had. Job prayed daily and that prayer substance was formed into many blessings in his life. If My people will pray, they will be protected and provided for.

Prophet Daniel was another man who had a consistent prayer life. The Bible says Daniel prayed three times a day. Through 4 different Kingdoms or regimes, Daniel consistently rose to prominence through the spirit of excellence within him, built through his prayer.

Our Spirits Needs Prayer Like Our Bodies Need Food

We overcome by the Spirit. Our spirits are one with the Lord, when we are baptized into Christ but our spirits still need to grow through the Word of God and prayer. Our spirit man needs to be fed. Daniel fed his three times per day, just like most people eat three times per day. When was the last time you fed your spirit three times per day? When we stop praying, we get out of tune with our spirits, and we become soulish, flesh-dominated, carnal Christians. We lost sharpness in spirit, becoming sluggish and dull. In this state, drama, gossip, and the things of this world become more attractive than the things of God. Our spirits go to sleep and our flesh wakes up. What does it mean when our spirits sleep?

• S – Sin Wilfully
• L – Lack Of Love
• E – Empowered By The Flesh
• E – Entangled With The Affairs Of This Life
• P – Prayerless Life

One day, you will wake up and wonder how ever did I get into this mess. The answer is you stopped praying and became a carnal Christian. The devil is looking for whom he may devour. When we are not praying, the devil is praying.

The early church prayed for their leaders. It is time to cover our pastors and leaders in prayer instead of throwing rocks, complaining, and gossiping about them. Share on X

Consider Christ Our Example

Jesus Christ was sinless, yet He prayed frequently. If prayer wasn’t important, Jesus would not have wasted time with it. Jesus won the battle in prayer before He won it on the cross. He taught His disciples to pray and the early church devoted itself to prayer. They found time in their busy schedules to pray. They prayed daily, constantly, corporately, and in-person, (Acts 12:5).

For a believer, prayer should be like breathing. Prayer is not a wasted time, it is an investment into your present and future. Prayer shifts the spiritual world. People fail because they don’t pray or because they don’t have anyone praying for them. Must we wait for a tragedy to be woken up to our need to pray? Don’t wait for a problem to come along before you get on your knees and pray. Don’t allow distrations to take you out of prayer, telling you there are more important things to do and you are just wasting your time.
