My Dad Got Shot When I Was 6 – Pastor Marco Garcia

The Power Of A Word From God

One Word from God can change your life forever. Before Jesus did any miracles, He would always teach to build people’s faith. Then, we saw all kinds of miracles happen in the ministry of Jesus. The same thing can happen today as you open your heart to hear from God. When God speaks, it is not just words that are being spoken but the same power that created the Heavens and the earth.

“The earth was without form and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.”

Genesis 1:2-3

One Word from God can change a drug addict and make them 100% free. Who the Son sets free is free indeed. One Word from God can heal cancer, raise the dead, restore your marriage, give you a brand new life, grant you eternal life. Just a Word from God can turn your depression into joy, fear, anxiety, and hopelessness into faith. All we need to do is trust God.

I made up my mind to serve Jesus Christ since I was a six-year-old child. I grew up in a family with a lot of pain, suffering, and abuse. You can listen to the full story of how I grew up and how God changed my life in the video but I want you to know that unless Jesus sets you free, you are a slave to your condition.

Only Jesus Can Save And Transform

The only One who can come into your life and make you a brand new person is Jesus Christ.

I want you to understand this, even if you have messed up and been unfaithful to your family, your children still love you. I didn’t look at my dad as a failure; he was my dad and I loved him. However, he breathed his last breath with a bullet between his eyes, lying in the gutter outside a bar.

You can keep doing you and doing your thing but a day is coming called payday. This means that eventually, life catches up with you. The Bible declares the wages of sin is death and that God cannot be mocked; for whatever a man sows, he shall reap, (Galatians 6:7). One day, we are going to breathe our last breath and then the only thing that will matter is if we have given our lives to Jesus Christ.

I have given my life to His cause because I know that Jesus Christ is the only answer. We are not offering religion, good behavior, a goody-two-shoes lifestyle. We are offering a new life – eternal life with peace, forgiveness, joy, and a purpose. I knew then that only Jesus Christ could save me from my sins and stop me from becoming like my father.

Saved At Six

My widowed mother presented the Gospel to me after my father’s death in a Sunday school class. It was the first time I heard that Jesus Christ died for my sins and if I believed in Him, He would forgive me of all my sins, and give me eternal life. I gave my life to Christ that day at the age of six. I knew I was a sinner even at six years old because our sin and wrong decisions don’t just affect us, they affect our children and the next generation. You are either passing on a godly inheritance of victory and serving God or you will pass on an inheritance of addiction, lust, bondage, and violence. That was what was passed on to me at already at the age of six. I knew I needed salvation and from that Sunday onwards my life changed.

I hadn’t planned to share this but God changed my sermon because He is out to reach somebody reading or listening to this. Today is your day of salvation and a new beginning. You are not going to find what you are looking for in one more round with the devil. Stop accepting the lie of just one more day or one more time. A time comes when you won’t have that one more day. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. Don’t be like my father who wasted his life, resisted the Gospel, died in a gutter and is probably in hell. God has a plan for your life.

How To Grow

First, you hear the Word of God. Secondly, you obey the Word of God. Thirdly, you teach the Word of God. If you do that, you will continue to grow in the Lord.

“For whoever calls on the name of the Lord [in prayer] will be saved.”

Romans 10:13 AMP

This includes everybody. Jesus did not come to call the righteous but to save sinners. If you know you are a sinner, you qualify for Jesus. How do you come to Jesus? You come the way you are, whoever you are. God does the changing and the saving. That is how you get delivered from the power sin has over you.

The Power Of Sin

Jesus said whatever you give yourself to, that you become a slave of (John 8:31-36). In Christ, you can be delivered from both the power of sin and the misery of sin. Sin might seem fun for a moment but it comes with the high price of depression, anxiety, torment, bondage, demons and death. Jesus came to set you free from the power of sin, the misery of sin and the judgment of sin.

Jesus created Heaven for us, not hell (John 14:2-3) but He doesn’t just want us to be with Him there, He wants us to be with Him here. I have never had a regret living for Jesus. You will never regret it. God has a better plan for your life than you can ever imagine. Just trust Him and give your life to Jesus Christ today.
