The Checklist Of Deliverance

We are going to discuss how to know if you need deliverance. God doesn’t deliver us because we are bound, neither does He heal us because we are sick. The prerequisite for deliverance is to have faith for freedom.

Deliverance happens when you are ready to receive it. Share on X

#1 – Identify the enemy’s tactics

Recognize your symptoms, come to your senses, and realize you don’t belong with the pigs.  The enemy can operate differently in different people’s lives.

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” – 1 Peter 5:8

Lions hunt in very specific ways. They hunt in packs. Lions lie in wait studying their prey. While studying their prey they look for prey who are old and burned out, who are young and not strong, who are sick and affected by their circumstances. The lion will attack this prey and separate them from the herd; we are stronger together. The young are not strong in their faith and can become victims of the lion. The weak who are affected by things of this world such as bitterness, unforgiveness and trauma are targeted by the lion.

Three ways demons get into our lives: inherited, invasive and invited.

  • Inheritance– something that was passed on from generation to generation like a generational curse.
  • Invasive– Entered through some type of abuse, intruder alert, forceful entry and home invasion.  Abuse in your life leaves mark or cracks in your life that gives the ability of demons to sneak into your life. Once the demon is in, it will amplify the trauma and prevent you from healing from the trauma.
  • Invited– doors opened through sin, oftentimes conscious and willful. Living a sinful life not according to God’s Word. It’s not that you just sinned, but it is about living in sin without repentance. Don’t trample the blood of Jesus; when you get knocked down in sin, get back up.

#2 – Humble yourself before the Lord

James 4:6-7 shows that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. The order of action to make the devil flee, first submit to God, then resist the devil and he will flee from you. Don’t skip the steps. Ask the question is it pleasing to God?  Humble yourself before God, don’t play games.

“If God’s people humble themselves, pray, seek His face, and turn from their wicked ways, He will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14

Humble yourself, seek Gods face, pray and turn from your wicked ways God will forgive and heal your land.

#3 – Go in your strength

Renounce, cut soul ties, throw away idols and make changes in your own strength. Judges 6:14, 25-26, First, go in your own strength, then God will come.  God can use things that are unholy in a different arrangement.  Cut down the wooden image (Asherah poles, these poles were used to worship Ishtar the goddess of fertility and worship of sex, self, pleasure and carnality) and place it in the proper arrangement then God can make use of something that was unholy in your life.

    #4 – Confront the devil

Deliverance prayers and casting out demons (the sound of freedom). The threefold journey of freedom according to Isaiah 61:1, Deliverance (liberty to the captives), inner healing (healing the brokenhearted), and renewing of your mind (preaching good tidings to the poor).

      Sets of Three

The threefold journey of freedom according to Isaiah 61:1 – deliverance (liberty to the captives), inner healing (heal the brokenhearted), renewing of your mind (preach good tidings to the poor)

The threefold journey of freedom according to Paul in 2 Timothy 1:7 – deliverance (power), inner healing (love) and renewing of your mind (sound mind)

Theological tradition suggests the soul consists of a trinity (mind, will and emotion) also known as the “soul trichotomy”. To address these three facets of the soul, we need the threefold journey of freedom.

The mind is renewed by the truth of God’s Word (breaking mental strongholds). The emotions are healed by the overflowing love of God (inner healing). The will is freed by releasing demonic bondage (deliverance).

Possessed vs. oppressed: Ownership vs habitation.

A landlord owns the house, a tenant lives in it.

When a tenant no longer has any legal right to live in the house, they will be evicted. If they do not leave of their own volition, eviction services will be called.

Possession is when malevolent entities live in the holy of holies because the Holy Spirit does not dwell there. The spirit is dead and only dead, and putrid beings would dwell there.

Through salvation, the spirit is reborn and the Holy Spirit moves into the Holy of Holies, aka our spirit. As Christians, we are not possessed, so the demons do not own us.  But they somehow found a way in and are living there. That is why Christian can have a relationship with God and still deal with bondage in their body and/or soul.

A Christian can be oppressed by evil spirits, meaning they dwell in the soul part of their being, but they cannot enter the veil of the Blood of Jesus. The spirit of man is secured and has been reborn through faith in Christ.

Casting demons out of possessed people is generally more violent and aggressive than casting them out of an oppressed person.
