Temptations Common To Man
There is more that took place at the cross than just your forgiveness. There is a power unleashed through the cross.
“To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” – Revelation 3:21
Everyone is going through something but we have to endure and overcome.
Sin's control over us ended at the cross of Christ. Share on XThe Bible shows us that things we don’t drive out of our hearts and souls, winning the battle over, become stings, sores, and attacks. What things are you allowing in your life to sting, and attack and hurt because you are not winning your battle with temptation? I want this message to empower you to win those battle and show you that there are exceedingly great and precious promises in the Word of God by which we can escape the corruption that is in the world through lust (2 Peter 1:4).
Many temptations exist in the world but here is a list of some common temptations we all face.

Agreeing With The Word
We need to say what God says about our issues. You have to get promises from the Word of God and begin to fight this fight. It is one thing to be hyped up and excited during worship, but it is another things when you are facing an inward battle in your heart and soul, that you begin to learn the power of the scriptures and the cross.
“Blessed is the man who endures temptation for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised for those who love Him. Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, not does He Himself tempt anyone.” But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin and when sin is full grown, it brings forth death. – James 1:12-14
When you permit sin in your life, it begins to bring death in many areas of your life – marriage, finances, passion, and love for God. It is good for us to examine ourselves and see if there is something in our lives that needs to be sanctified. Is there something in me that needs to go to a new level in God?
You are never going to get victory over a sin that you secretly like. How do you not like sin? You war against it with the scriptures, and pray for God to change your mind and heart. We are all called to bear fruit for God in a supernatural way but if we are not, we need to check ourselves. Let us become vessels sanctified and purified for the Master’s use.
“Run from anything that stimulates youthful lust. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the name of the Lord with a pure heart.” – 2 Timothy 2:22
God Is Not Caught Off Guard
Your temptations are not catching God off-guard by your sins or mistakes. He will always love you but there will come a time when you will not be able to move forward without dealing with these things in your heart.
Change starts with the realization of a weakness. Change starts when deception is dismantled with revelation and knowledge. The enemy usually uses a legal right to get involved in your life and wreak havoc. He plays on the weaknesses of our flesh and mind to achieve this. There is power in God’s Word. If you are not seeing the power of the Word, it is because it needs to be exercised. If we are not exercising some of the scriptures of power in God’s Word, we are not going to see the victory. We need to get God’s Word involved and exercised in our lives. There are certain principles and powers in God’s Word that if we begin to utilize and exercise, we will see the victory of God in our lives.
Enemies of Temptation
Vicitmhood – How are you ever going to get victory over your temptation if you can excuse it by being a victim? We are supposed to be victorious in Christ Jesus; that is what He has called us to be.
Minimizing Sin – If you think your sin is not too bad, you will always fall into it.
Lack of Repentance – If you are not ready to be broken before the Lord and cry out for mercy over your sin, you will never ruse above it.
No Excuse For Temptation
“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” – 1 Corinthians 10:13
The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation (2 Peter 2:9). Whenever you are facing a battle or are in the midst of a storm, I have the perfect answer for you. “God is faithful, thank You for showing this to me Father, You are worth battling for, You are the One I want, and You will deliver me.”
Temptation Trains You For War
Some temptations should be viewed as an opportunity to learn warfare and understand the power of God (Judges 3:1-4). Even when you are born again, there will still be things in your soul that you have to conquer (Ephesians 6:12). While the enemy plays on your flesh, this is not simply a fleshly battle we are up against, as Christians. We do battle by finding, using, and enforcing scriptures about the finished work of the cross. By the victory of Christ on the cross, satan the liar is both dethroned and dismantled (Colossians 2:14-15).
There is a big difference between knowing the scripture and living it. I want this message to empower you to live this scriptural reality. However, if you don’t know the truth and walk in this reality, you are living at entry-level Christianity, and the enemy is going to take advantage of your ignorance. Sin’s control over us ended at the cross of Christ.
