Week 5 Recap: Prophetic (Part 2)

October 20 – October 26, 2019

Prayer, fasting, and intimacy with the Holy Spirit breaks bondages, strongholds, and chains the enemy has tried to put on you. These three combined also helps to advance the gift of prophecy. To advance in this gift, interns continued practicing after every lesson to strengthen their ability to hear Holy Spirit. In addition, they also read “Fourth Dimension” (Volume 1 and Volume 2) by Dr. David Yonggi Cho. This week, interns learned to communicate with Holy Spirit through the fourth dimension, also known as the spiritual realm. In addition, interns practiced fasting for three days, consuming only water.

The following interns share their favorite part of this week’s lesson along with a brief interview.

Name: Pastor Bich

From: Da Nang, Central Vietnam

What did you learn this week?: We learned the importance of prayer and fasting along with how this helps with our gift in the prophetic. At first praying for an hour was exhausting but then I came to really enjoy my time in God’s presence. I used to have trouble with fasting but now I have a new understanding of the importance. It helps sharpen and intensifies your prayers, allowing miraculous breakthrough to occur! You will become more sensitive to the Holy Spirit. Also, you will be able to learn about the good in people and not just see the bad in them.

Any advice for people interested in the HungryGen Internship?: This is a very good place to grow and have an encounter with God. I came from a very different background than many people here, but I have come to realize how common we all are due to our past experiences. We all have struggled with addictions and strongholds. If you have any of those, come here! They do not condemn you. Instead, they help liberate you. The anointing here is very powerful and will rub off onto you.

Favorite Part about Internship: I love how we’re learning how to preach. Sometimes we have a really good message for people but we don’t know how to convey it. The preacher here, Pastor Vlad, shares from a practical view of how he has gone through the process of preaching and gives us advice he’s been given. Also it is not just about the message but about the heart behind the truth of God.

Favorite Bible Verse: Ephesians 3:20

Fun Fact: I have a church in Vietnam. Come visit me!

Name: Thaomi Dao

From: Chicopee, Massachusetts

What did you learn this week?: I learned how sensitive Holy Spirit is and to be focused on His voice throughout the process of releasing a prophetic word. On Monday, Malachi, the worship leader, demonstrated the reality of hearing Holy Spirit’s voice in a game called “Trust Maze.” The game helped me realize how helpful Holy Spirit is and His struggle to get to us when we allow the busy-ness of life to get to us. We also played a prophecy game similar to “Seven Up” with our teachers, Serge and Bryson. I really liked the game because the class did not know who they were prophesying over (until the end!) so they had to completely depend on Holy Spirit to have accuracy. At the end of the game, my teachers chose me and the prophecies my classmates spoke over me helped me overcome very specific issues in my life. I also loved that unlike fortune telling and astrology, prophecy is about encouraging and edifying another believer!

Any advice for people interested in the HungryGen Internship?: Start now! The younger you are, the better! The earlier you dedicate yourself to build a firm foundation, the easier is to make future decisions. I had to take a huge step of faith by deferring my Freshman year of college in order to attend this internship but I knew it was an important desire I had. As one of the youngest, I certainly reaped the benefits of surrounding myself with older and more experienced people. Another piece of advice is to not worry about finances. A hunger for God is all you need to come here!

Favorite Part(s) about Internship: Definitely, the people at internship (including teachers and locals)! Of course, I came so that I could develop a relationship with Holy Spirit, but I did not realize I can learn so much about Him through people. I also loved learning how to be independent and confident in God, especially since I moved across the country by myself at such a young age. I also love volunteering at Kidzone on Sunday and helping the homeless on Friday. Living in a big house with girls is so much fun (most times), especially since we always care for each other. I also really love the business classes we have on Thursday. I am really excited for the next season because this internship has prepared me to stand firm with Holy Spirit and in the Word of God.

Fun Fact: I love decorating! One time during the internship, I really needed to find a bed since I did not want a bunk bed and I found one in the garage. Needless to say, an interior designer will always find a way to make things work out.

Favorite Bible Verse: Isaiah 43:2
